Building a Live Video Workflow with Blackmagic Gear
If you’re anything like me, live video conferencing has become part of my everyday life. I own a branding and graphic design agency called Kreativ Alchemy, and we operate exclusively online by video conferencing with our clients, producing marketing webinars, and showcasing results and strategies.
But, sharing my screen has some obvious drawbacks. First, my audience can only see a grainy image of my face from my 2013 MacBook webcam. Second, I can only show what’s on my screen at that time. Third, if I want to showcase something we’ve filmed or done for another client, I have to pull up that video on my screen share. It’s limiting and looks unprofessional.
That’s why I was so excited when Blackmagic Design reached out to let us try a live video workflow with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus, Blackmagic Hyperdeck Studio 4K Pro, Blackmagic Web Presenter 4K, and Blackmagic ATEM Mini. Wow, that’s a mouthful.
I was able to use the two cameras as live video sources and the HyperDeck Studio broadcast recorder as a video source for my pre-recorded content. All of these sources went into the ATEM Mini live production switcher, which we fed into the Web Presenter 4K to get it all online. Oh, I should mention that Web Presenter 4K lets you use it as a webcam source for Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Open Broadcaster, XSplit Broadcaster, and more.
We made a video detailing the entire workflow below. And don’t forget to check out our individual reviews of Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus, Blackmagic Hyperdeck Studio 4K Pro, Blackmagic Web Presenter 4K, and Blackmagic ATEM Mini too!
